  The Federal Bureau of Unsolved Homicide will be responsible for the prevention of potential crimes and reinvestigation of unsolved crimes, and its work complements the work of police officers and federal investigators assigned to the Department of Justice.

  In our Bureau, detective work is highly specialized beyond time, usually encompassing the examination and evaluation of evidence saved in our database to apprehend suspects and to terminate unsolved cases against them. The bureau ensures that each one of its commands conducts solid, high-quality reinvestigations in a timely manner and that each investigation is handled efficiently, with dedication and professionalism.
